Boxing at ULA

Non-contact, coached, and built for people who've never put gloves on. Boxing at ULA is about discipline, focus and self-control, not fighting.

What a session includes

Non-contact means exactly that

Nobody hits anybody. Every session is made up of the same core ingredients, adapted to your level.

  • Bag work

Learning to hit the heavy bag with proper technique. Power, rhythm and control.

  • Pad drills

Working combinations with the coach on the pads. Timing, accuracy and focus.

  • Footwork and shadow boxing

Movement, balance and stance. The foundation everything else is built on.

  • Fitness circuits

Conditioning that gets you fitter every week and shows you what you're capable of.

  • Technical instruction

Coached technique from the basics up. You'll learn to box properly, at your own pace.

  • No sparring

There is no sparring and no intentional contact between people at ULA. Ever.

Strength means discipline, not aggression.

Why boxing

A mirror, not a weapon

Boxing demands focus, self-control, respect and consistency. Those are exactly the things that get worn down when life has been unstable, or when nobody has ever shown you how.

Training gives stress, frustration and anger somewhere healthy to go. It builds routine and commitment, because the bag doesn't care how you feel today. And over ten weeks it does something quieter: it shows you that you can stick at something hard and get better at it.

At ULA, strength means discipline and self-mastery. We're deliberately challenging the idea that being strong means being aggressive. The lessons from the mindset session, about perseverance, emotional control, humility and respect, get lived out on the gym floor the same week.

Safety

How we keep it safe

  1. Step 1: Qualified coaching

Sessions will be led by a qualified boxing coach, with exercises matched to each person's ability.

  2. Step 2: Non-contact, always

Bag work, pads, footwork and fitness. No sparring and no intentional contact between participants.

  3. Step 3: Respect in the room

Everyone trains under the same expectations of respect and self-control. Those expectations are part of the programme, not an afterthought.

Questions people ask

I'm really unfit. Can I still do it?

Yes. Sessions are adapted to where you are, not where someone else is. Fitness improves week by week, and that's part of the point.

Will I get hurt?

Boxing at ULA is non-contact. You'll never be hit. Like any physical training there's effort involved, and the coach will make sure you're working safely and at the right level.

What do I need to bring?

We'll send you everything you need to know before your first session, including what to wear and what we provide.

Can I do the boxing without the mindset sessions?

The two go together. Boxing is where the mindset work gets tested, and the mindset session is where the boxing makes sense. A camp includes both.
